Tips for applying as cabin crew

The job portal and vacancy listings are only in German; the airline states that the rest of the application can be carried out in English, which implies a sufficient level of German to understand the vacancies. Its careers page cites five stations for cabin crew (Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich and Leipzig), with no base in France. As of 8 October 2026, the portal had no vacancies listed for cabin crew, so the selection criteria cannot be verified as of that date.

History

Condor was founded on 21 December 1955 under the name Deutsche Flugdienst GmbH and operated its first holiday flight on 29 March 1956; it has offered long-haul flights since 1966 and celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2026. It took over its competitor Condor-Luftreederei in 1961 and adopted the name Condor Flugdienst. After a period within the Thomas Cook group, that group's bankruptcy on 23 September 2019 led to a bridging loan from the German state, before the British fund Attestor took a stake in the company in May 2021. The airline is renewing its long-haul fleet with Airbus A330neo aircraft, the first of which was delivered in December 2022, with the renewal completed in 2024. In spring 2026, it repaid the public aid early, and in September 2026 announced the exercise of a purchase option over the 49% stake held on behalf of the federal state and Hesse, with finalisation expected by 31 August 2027.

Frequently asked questions

What are the requirements to become cabin crew at Condor?+

The airline's careers page states that it is looking for Flugbegleiter and Purser, but it does not list any criteria (age, height, languages, swimming) and refers applicants to the job portal. As of 8 October 2026, this portal had no vacancies listed for cabin crew, and only a "Kabine" filter exists in the job alert service. The criteria therefore cannot be verified as of this date and will appear in each vacancy listing.

Do you need to speak German to be cabin crew at Condor?+

The airline states that its job portal and vacancy listings are only available in German, which requires a sufficient level of German to understand them. It specifies that the rest of the application process can take place in English. The level of language required to carry out the role is not detailed on the pages consulted.

Where does Condor assign its cabin crew?+

The careers page cites the stations of Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich and Leipzig, the same as during the January 2022 recruitment campaign, which aimed for around 150 recruits. No base in France is mentioned. The airline presents Frankfurt as its hub and is developing a network of 16 European cities there for summer 2027.

How does initial training work at Condor?+

An article from the airline dated May 2023 describes a course lasting around six weeks. It begins at the then head office in Neu-Isenburg, with a theoretical section on the Condor product and service, then continues mainly in Kelsterbach with first aid, crew resource management (CRM), security, and safety and emergency procedures (evacuation and fire, in a cabin mock-up and in a swimming pool). A successful reliability check (Zuverlässigkeitsprüfung) is required in order to attend the security training.

What types of contracts does Condor offer cabin crew?+

During the January 2022 recruitment campaign, the airline offered full-time positions limited to two years, with an option for a long-term working relationship, as well as permanent part-time positions. This information dates from 2022 and does not necessarily describe current vacancies.
