Tips for applying as cabin crew

Each airline in the group applies its own conditions and its own recruitment calendar, published by market on the careers portal (United Kingdom and Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Nordic countries). The official pages everywhere require English at B2 level, supplemented depending on the base by German, French or Dutch, Dutch or Swedish, as well as an arm reach of 1.89 m and the ability to swim 25 metres. For a French-speaking candidate, TUI fly Belgium (Zaventem base) accepts French or Dutch in addition to English.

Fleet figures as of December 2025 — indicative (public sources, they change over time); check with the airline before an interview.

History

TUI AG descends from Preussag, a company founded in 1923 as a mining business, which turned to tourism in the late 1990s before taking the name TUI AG in 2002. The TUI brand, created in 1968 from the association of small tourism businesses including Touropa, became the name of the group. In 2007, the tourism branch merged with First Choice Holidays to form TUI Travel, and TUI Travel and TUI AG then merged in December 2014. The group, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, recorded a net loss of 2.3 billion euros between October 2019 and June 2020 because of the pandemic, and its shareholders voted in February 2024 to delist from the London Stock Exchange. In its press release of 10 December 2025, it claims more than 34.7 million customers and five airlines operating 125 aircraft.

Frequently asked questions

Which airlines in the TUI group recruit cabin crew?+

The group has five airlines: TUI Airways, TUI fly Deutschland, TUI fly Belgium, TUI fly Netherlands and TUI fly Nordic. The careers portal publishes a separate FAQ for the United Kingdom and Ireland, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries, each market having its own rules and recruitment periods.

What common conditions do the official pages set out?+

The pages generally require being 18 years old on the first day of training, reaching 1.89 m barefoot flat on the ground (a reach test, not a minimum height), being able to swim at least 25 metres, being able to fasten the jump seat harness, speaking and writing English at B2 level, accepting substance tests and cabin crew medical examinations, and being able to reach the base in uniform within 60 or 90 minutes depending on the market.

Can a French-speaking candidate apply to TUI fly Belgium?+

The TUI fly Belgium page requires English and French or Dutch at B2 level; it states that candidates without French or Dutch must have basic conversational knowledge and be motivated to learn it. It also requires an EU, EEA or Swiss passport valid for at least six months from the first day of training, and the right to live and work in Belgium before training begins.

How does the selection process work at TUI?+

The candidate applies for a single base, completes online assessments (a situational judgement test and a personality questionnaire, with a motivation questionnaire depending on the market), then goes through an eligibility check. This is followed by a half-day assessment centre, virtual in the United Kingdom and Germany, in person in Belgium, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries. Successful candidates receive an offer or join a talent pool, with no guarantee of an offer, then undergo medical and security checks.

How long does the training last and what type of contract is offered?+

Initial training takes place full-time: around 4 to 6 weeks in the United Kingdom and Ireland, 5 to 6 weeks in Belgium and the Nordic countries, and around 8 weeks according to the German page (6 to 7 weeks in another answer on the same page). The contracts mentioned are fixed-term: seasonal of 6 to 7 months in the United Kingdom (availability from March to the end of October), of 12 or 24 months in Germany, and a winter season from mid-October to the end of April 2027 in the Nordic countries.
