Tips for applying as cabin crew
Cabin crew are based at London Heathrow and initial training, lasting around four and a half weeks, takes place in Crawley. The airline requires the right to live and work in the United Kingdom and a passport allowing travel to all its destinations, but no previous cabin crew experience. It presents the role as a safety-critical position first and foremost: standing for up to eight hours, working in confined spaces and responding to emergencies are all part of the criteria.

History
Virgin Atlantic was founded in 1984 by Richard Branson; its first flight linked London Gatwick to Newark on 22 June 1984, using a leased Boeing 747. It opened its Manchester base on 17 May 1996 with a route to Orlando. Singapore Airlines took a 49% stake in the company in 1999, a stake later taken over by Delta Air Lines (a deal announced in December 2012). In May 2020, the pandemic led it to give up Gatwick and retire its Boeing 747s, and in 2020 it entered into a transatlantic partnership with Delta and Air France-KLM. It received its first Airbus A330-900s in 2022, joined SkyTeam in 2023 as the alliance's first and only British airline, and is aiming for an entirely new-generation fleet by 2028.
